Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Biosolids Manager to join our team. The Biosolids Manager will be responsible for overseeing the placement and management of biosolids and digestates to land, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting sustainable waste management practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation and communication skills, excellent time management abilities, and a passion for sustainability and circular economy principles. The Biosolids Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure the successful and environmentally responsible management of biosolids.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the placement and management of biosolids and digestates to land, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines.

2. Develop and maintain relationships with waste management providers, agricultural partners, and regulatory agencies.

3. Negotiate contracts and agreements for the safe and efficient transportation, placement, and monitoring of biosolids.

4. Analyze data and evaluate feedstock suitability for land application, considering both technical and commercial considerations.

5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including agronomists, environmental scientists, and engineers, to optimize biosolids management practices.

6. Ensure proper documentation, record keeping, and reporting related to biosolids management activities.

7. Stay updated with the latest advancements in waste management, nutrient recovery, and circular economy practices.

8. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.

9. Utilize problem-solving skills and think creatively to address challenges and identify opportunities for process improvement.

10. Promote sustainable waste management practices and educate internal teams and external stakeholders on the benefits of biosolids management.

11. Collaborate with the regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits.

12. Utilize MS Project or similar software to effectively plan, monitor, and report on project progress.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in environmental science, agricultural sciences, waste management, business, or a related field. Significant experience in the placement/management of biosolids/digestates to land may also be considered.

2. Excellent negotiation and communication skills to interact effectively with waste management providers, agricultural partners, and regulatory agencies.

3. Excellent time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

4. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to address challenges.

5. Self-motivated with a passion for sustainability and circular economy practices.

6. Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

7. Full UK driver's license and willingness to travel as required.

Desirable Qualifications:

1. Familiarity with relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines governing waste management and nutrient recovery.

2. Ability to analyze data, evaluate feedstock suitability, and make informed decisions based on technical and commercial considerations.

3. Proven experience in waste management, feedstock sourcing, or related roles, preferably within the agriculture or fertilizer production industry.

4. Strong networking and relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

5. Experience with MS Project or similar project management software.
