Location &, flexibility – Field based Southern England & Wales (Ideal location: West of London e.g Reading) – National travel required.
Salary & Benefits – £42,000 - £45,000 Pension + Mileage & Expenses + Training & Career Development.
About the Job:
This is a full-time field-based role supporting the delivery, maintenance, and long-term operation of solar PV systems in educational environments. You’ll be responsible for technical visits, system commissioning, repairs, and compliance testing on school sites, while also supporting planning and system design.
- You’ll be responsible for carrying out pre-installation site visits, commissioning, and DNO testing
- Performing 5-year fixed wire electrical testing and annual PV inspections
- Diagnosing and resolving faults, including replacement of inverters, PV components, or communications equipment
- Completing detailed site reports and updating the asset management database
- Supporting design, planning, and DNO application processes
- Building strong relationships with school site managers and supporting staff
About you:
- Qualified electrician with hands-on experience in solar PV or electrical systems
- 18th Edition qualified (essential)
- Test & Inspection qualification (2391 or equivalent – advantageous)
- Comfortable working independently across school environments
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostics skills
- Confident communicating technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
- DBS certifiable to work in schools
- Full UK Driving Licence
