Job Title – Production Manager

About the Job:
  • Production Oversight: Manage daily production schedules to meet targets (e.g., 400 tonnes annually, averaging 8 tonnes weekly, scaling to 1,000 tonnes by 2026), including operating or troubleshooting valve bagging machines, pyrolysis units, and coordinating the packaging of 2 tonnes of per shift (80-100 bags, 50L/20kg each); identify process improvements for scaling operations and support the transition to new sites. 
  • Team Supervision: Lead and supervise machine/bagging operators, including training on procedures, performance management, shift scheduling, and fostering a collaborative environment; provide guidance during independent shifts and cover supervisory needs when required. 
  • Feedstock and Materials Management: Oversee incoming feedstock acceptance, inspection for compliance, storage in designated areas, and control procedures; ensure accurate recording of quantities, origins, and delivery details; manage reorders for materials and consumables to prevent disruptions. 
  • Logistics and Inventory: Coordinate pallet stacking, forklift operations for material movement, truck loading, and inventory control; utilize systems for generating logistics tickets, MSDS, customer instructions, and performance metrics. 
  • Safety, Compliance, and Environmental Controls: Enforce health and safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and ensure team adherence, particularly in solo or high-output scenarios; implement controls for litter, dust, odour, noise, vermin, insects, and spills; promote a culture of continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and environmental practices, including weed control, preventing unauthorized access, and meeting carbon credit standards for biochar.

About you:
  • Proven experience as a Production Manager or Supervisor in manufacturing, preferably with oversight of machine operators in high-output environments involving waste processing, biochar, or sustainable materials. 
  • Strong knowledge of production equipment, such as valve bagging machines, pyrolysis systems, or similar, with hands-on operational skills. 
  • Valid UK forklift licence and demonstrated safe driving proficiency. 
  • Physical capability to handle demanding tasks, including lifting up to 20kg and managing fast-paced workflows. 
  • In-depth understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, environmental controls, and compliance standards (e.g., feedstock inspection, odour/dust management, carbon credit methodologies).
