Their Purpose – A fast-growing renewable energy developer with a mission to accelerate the decarbonisation of energy with Solar and Wind. Specialising in utility-scale renewable energy and infrastructure projects, the team delivers commercially successful, technologically advanced developments grounded in responsible practices. Working closely with global investment partners, the company operates across the UK, Ireland, US, and Australian markets.
 
Location &, flexibility – Hybrid – 2 days a week in Wiltshire office.

About the Job:

As a Grid Connections Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and securing grid capacity while managing all connection-related milestones to support the successful delivery of UK renewable energy pipeline.
You’ll bring deep technical understanding of the UK electricity system, strong analytical capabilities, and a well-established network across the grid ecosystem. Working closely with development, construction and asset management teams, you will shape the grid strategy from origination through to delivery.
  • Identify, analyse and secure grid connection opportunities across transmission and distribution networks
  • Support project developers with grid strategy during origination, site selection and feasibility assessment
  • Lead ENA applications, review and negotiate connection offers, and manage agreements with DNOs, iDNOs and National Grid ESO
  • Manage technical studies including capacity analysis, constraints assessment and reinforcement requirements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with NGET, DNOs, iDNOs, consultants and wider industry stakeholders
  • Monitor regulatory and market developments (Ofgem, ESO etc.) and advise the team on risks and opportunities Aswell as applying grid knowledge across Solar PV, Onshore Wind, BESS and grid stability technologies (e.g., synchronous condensers)
  • Use grid analytics tools, GIS and network data to prioritise new project opportunities
  • Integrate value engineering approaches to optimise project economics and reduce grid-related costs and delays
  • Ensure compliance with all grid code, financial and technical obligations within connection agreements

About you:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems or a related discipline
  • 5–8+ years’ experience in UK grid connections
  • Strong technical and regulatory understanding of grid processes, network planning and capacity assessment
  • Proven experience securing and managing grid connections for renewables, storage or grid-supporting projects
  • Highly analytical with the ability to interpret complex technical data and provide clear recommendations
  • Excellent attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • Strong commercial awareness, including understanding of grid cost drivers and supply chain considerations
  • Knowledge of electricity markets, grid stability requirements and ancillary services
  • Collaborative and confident communicator, able to work cross-functionally with development, construction and asset management teams
  • Passionate about renewable energy and innovation, thriving in fast-paced environments
