Fusion Design Engineer

We are hiring a design engineer competent in fusion CAD modelling to join our team. This role requires proficiency in commercial CAD software like Dassault Solidworks/CATIA, and experience with other packages such as ENOVIA is preferential. Skills in 2D drawing are desired. Collaboration with specialized professionals in areas like Electro-Magnetic (EM) analysis, Tritium Transport Modelling (TTM), and safety-related analysis is also expected.

The engineer will contribute time primarily to tritium breeding blanket design projects in the UK, but will also interface with the R&D team on UNITY-related technology development. They will also provide capability and availability for KF to undertake miscellaneous internal or client-led projects related to design of fusion technologies.

Job Purpose:
  • Perform 3D CAD modelling to create accurate and realistic computer models for complex simulations.
  • Utilize commercial CAD software, particularly Dassault Solidworks/CATIA, for detailed 3D modelling.
  • Demonstrate expertise in ENOVIA for efficient CAD data management and collaboration.
  • Create precise 2D drawings independently and based on 3D models, with knowledge of AUTOCAD as an advantage.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and other specialists.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize knowledge and proficiency in CAD modelling to develop realistic computer models of tritium breeding blanket components and systems.
  • Apply commercial CAD software, especially Dassault Solidworks/CATIA, for detailed 3D modelling.
  • Demonstrate expertise in ENOVIA for efficient CAD data management and collaboration.
  • Generate precise 2D drawings for parts and assemblies, independently and based on 3D models.
  • Utilize AUTOCAD knowledge (or similar) for 2D drawing tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams for CAD modelling support.
  • Coordinate and liaise with specialized professionals in Electro-Magnetic (EM) analysis, Tritium Transport Model (TTM) task, and safety-related analysis.

Desired/Required Qualifications:
  • Expertise in 3D CAD modelling, with a proven track record of building realistic computer models.
  • Proficiency in commercial CAD software, particularly Dassault Solidworks/CATIA.
  • Knowledge of ENOVIA for efficient CAD data management and collaboration.
  • Strong skills in creating precise 2D drawings for parts and assemblies.
  • Familiarity with AUTOCAD for 2D drawing tasks is advantageous.
