Job Title – Technical Operations Supervisor

About the Job –
The Technical Operations Supervisor will join a growing Jointing team, challenging processes daily and thriving in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. This role is key to building for the future by ensuring technical excellence and safe delivery.
 
  • Overseeing HV & LV installations and ensuring safe, compliant delivery.
  • Producing technical reports, calculations, and protection grading analysis.
  • Developing testing/commissioning procedures and training programmes.
  • Leading site protection investigations, audits, and technical development projects.
  • Co-ordinating DNO witness commissioning (e.g. WPD/UKPN).
  • Supervising advanced protection activities such as differential, NVD and I/O testing.
  • Supporting senior leadership with technical management and acting as deputy when required.
  • Mentoring, upskilling, and supervising site personnel, ensuring adherence to procedures.
  • Preparing switching programmes, issuing/cancelling safety documents, and assisting SAPs with network operations.
  • Identifying hazards and ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel and the public.
About you -
  • Engineering degree (or equivalent) with strong protection & commissioning background.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in protection systems and at least 3 years supervising SAPs.
  • Full SAP up to 33kV (essential); 132kV and SSE authorisations desirable.
  • Experience in electrical protection scheme design, earthing, cable design and SCADA systems.
  • 18th Edition and C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing.
  • Emergency First Aid and CSCS (or equivalent).
  • Proven ability in fault finding, technical investigations and network operations.
  • Commitment to safety, compliance and working to ISO/NERs standards.
