Job Title –  Site Engineer      
 

Their Purpose –  A specialist technical services provider delivering expert maintenance and servicing for central inverters installed on large-scale solar PV sites across the UK. Their goal is to ensure renewable energy assets remain efficient, reliable, and performing at their highest capability to support the UK’s clean energy transition.

 
Location & flexibility – Field based – Southwest  


Salary & Benefits – Up to £45k + company vehicle, fuel card, uniform and PPE provided, training and development opportunities.
 
About the Job:


As a Site Engineer, you will carry out preventative maintenance and servicing works on central inverters. You will help ensure systems remain in optimum condition, minimising downtime and operational risk. You will complete planned site visits, monitor asset performance indicators first-hand, and contribute to long-term asset health.
 
  • Completing scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing routines on central inverters at solar PV sites across the UK.
  • Conducting functional checks, inspections, electrical testing, cooling system checks, and firmware review where required.
  • Cleaning, replacing or tightening components, and ensuring all equipment remains free from mechanical strain and environmental damage.
  • Reporting early signs of degradation, potential failures, or safety hazards clearly and promptly for corrective action by the wider team.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation of all maintenance and servicing works using internal reporting systems.
  • Following safe systems of work at all times, especially when working with high-voltage equipment.
  • Representing the organisation professionally and maintaining strong relationships with clients on site.
  • Keeping up to date with manufacturer and internal training to support continuous skill development.

About you:
  • Experience in electrical or mechanical maintenance - ideally on power electronics, industrial systems, or renewable assets. Previous work with central inverter systems or solar PV infrastructure is beneficial.
  • Electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds) or HV authorisation is beneficial.
  • Practical understanding of electrical safety when working with high-voltage systems.
  • Ability to follow structured maintenance schedules with accuracy and consistency.
  • Full UK driving licence and comfortable with national travel.
