Location &, flexibility – South West - Regular site work (typically 2–4 nights away per week) with some night work required for in-situ EL testing

About the Job –
This is a highly hands-on technical role supporting the delivery of field services across utility-scale solar projects throughout the UK. You’ll play a key part in quality assurance, electrical testing, inspection, commissioning support, and advanced diagnostic testing using cutting-edge mobile laboratory technology.
You’ll work closely with the Engineering Services and Projects teams, contributing to both technical delivery and client-facing consultancy.
- Deliver electrical testing, inspection, installation, and modifications across solar PV assets
- Operate mobile test laboratories (van and trailer-based)
- Carry out in-situ EL imaging using tripod systems
- Generate RAMS and support SOP development
- Act as an Authorised Person (AP) for LV systems and manage isolations and Permit to Work
- Conduct electrical surveys for compliance
- Upload, store and interpret test data and reports
- Provide technical advice to clients and internal teams
- Support operational planning with the General Manager
- Manage relationships with clients, subcontractors, and supply-chain partners
- Ensure services are delivered on time, within scope and budget
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
- Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe practices
- Travel regularly to solar farms and client sites across the UK
About you -
- Proven experience working on large-scale ground-mounted solar assets
- (2391-52 or equivalent qualified)
- 18th edition qualified
- CSCS Card
- Authorised person (LV DC.AC) – APHV-2
- Strong hands-on experience with electrical testing, inspection, installation and commissioning and solid understanding of Electrical Safety Rules (ESR), including Permit to Work and isolations
- Experience working with clients, subcontractors and supply chain partners
- Comfortable working away from home regularly
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high technical standards
- Ability to manage time effectively and work autonomously
