Posted on 02 September 2022

You maybe thinking, what is Agri-Tech and what is all the fuss about?

Well, Agritech is simply the use of technology for farming which has been developed over the past few years to improve efficiency and profitability.

Why Agri-Tech Matters

The short answer. We need Agritech. The world’s population is expected to grow to 9.7 billion people by 2050 and feeding it will be a huge challenge due to urbanization and development, we are losing arable lands every day. The result of this means the agricultural industry are having to look to new ways in order to keep up with the long-term demand, while having less land to work with.

Agritech is now becoming a very large and established market across the Globe, with it’s presence all over the world and with companies that specialise from Vertical Farming to Robotics to evening mining metal from plants!!

There is no sign of slowing for the Agritech industry, The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) in the UK recently announced £16.5 million of funding to support research and development projects in farming.

This new round of funding continues to form part of the £270 million Framing Innovation programme which is designed to take the leading research ideas and turn them into practical solutions to support the agricultural industries.

Honestly, Agritech really is one of the most interesting markets out there.
