Location &, flexibility – Hybrid role with 2days per week in the London office (Tuesdays & Thursdays), with the remaining days worked from home. Some site visits and occasional client visits required.

About the Job –
As a Solar Design Engineer, you will design commercial rooftop Solar PV systems from concept through to construction, producing AC and DC electrical designs, technical drawings and project documentation. You'll work closely with the sales team, supporting technical discussions with clients, whilst carrying out site surveys, feasibility studies and energy yield modelling.
The role offers broad exposure across electrical design, product development and continuous improvement, making it ideal for an engineer looking to play a key role within a growing clean technology business.
- Design AC and DC electrical systems for commercial rooftop Solar PV projects.
- Produce technical drawings, project documentation and design packs.
- Develop electrical connection concepts into existing infrastructure.
- Carry out site surveys, feasibility studies and pre-construction assessments.
- Produce energy yield assessments using PVSyst (or similar).
- Support product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Research emerging technologies and industry best practice.
- Provide technical support during client meetings and throughout the sales process.
- Ensure designs comply with current industry regulations and standards.
- Maintain ongoing professional development within the renewable energy sector.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in commercial electrical system design.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar (or equivalent industry experience).
- Proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent design software.
- Strong understanding of AC electrical design principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Desirable: Commercial Solar PV design experience, DC design knowledge, PVSyst/PVSol, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) design experience, Health & Safety qualifications and CDM knowledge.
